The jury of the contest “Ventspils IT Challenge 2021” has evaluated the first-round submissions and has announced 64 finalists, who will have the opportunity to compete for a cash prize of EUR 15 000. The finals are to take place from 6 to 9 December, whereas the awarding ceremony is to be held online on 10 December.
Despite the health emergency in Latvia and worldwide, this year, a total of 352 teams, i.e., 1048 participants from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia were registered for the contest. The jury consisting of the representatives of the Ventspils Digital Centre, the Computer Science Centre, the IT Education Foundation (Start IT), and IT teachers evaluated all submissions and announced the finalists in all age groups. The first-round winners will be invited to participate in the finals, which are to take place remotely this year:
- 6 December: group A (grades 1 to 3) – completion of final round tasks online.
- 7 December: group B (grades 4 to 6) – completion of final round tasks online.
- 8 December: group C (grades 7 to 9) – completion of final round tasks online.
- 9 December: group D (grades 10 to 12) – completion of final round tasks online.
- 10 December: awarding of groups A, B, C, and D online.
