The application and submission of 1st round tasks have been finished for the competition “Ventspils IT Challenge 2020” has been completed. Despite the epidemiological situation in Latvia and in the world, a total of 280 teams have registered for the competition this year – they are 1120 participants from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
Pupils of Latvian schools have shown the greatest interest in the competition – a total of 204 teams from all over Latvia have applied. Estonia has also shown a high interest to the competition and 60 teams will compete for a place in the final. 16 teams from Lithuania have also decided to show their ICT skills and apply for ambitious cash prizes. The most widely represented is group B, 4th – 6th grade students. 136 teams have applied in group B.
Representatives of Ventspils Digital Center and task creators will evaluate the submitted works and determine the finalists by November 9. The winners of the first round will be announced on November 10 – the finalists will receive notifications by e-mail, but all results will be published on the competition website. The winners of the first round will be invited to the final of the competition, which will take place remotely this year:
- November 23. – Group D tasks online
- November 24 – Group C tasks online
- November 25 – Group B tasks online
- November 26 – Group A tasks online
- November 27 – Award ceremony online for all groups
Detailed information about the final of the competition and the necessary technical support will be sent to the finalists by e-mail. Despite the fact that it will not be possible to meet in person in the finals, the organizers will take care of the gifts and the finalists will be sent promotional prizes for participating in the competition.
